This is a collection of links and websites that I have found particularly useful in writing campaigns, creating maps and graphics, and becoming a better GM.
Campaign Writing
The Angry GM – This is currently my favorite RPG blog. I really like Angry’s style of GMing, and I agree with pretty much everything he writes. I’ve gotten some great ideas from this blog, especially from the articles about abstract dungeoneering and writing combats.
r/DnDBehindtheScreen – This DM-only subreddit is good for the nitty-gritty details of world-building, especially things like homebrew spells, enemies, and items, This reddit is not intended for new DMs or for asking questions about running games, managing players, etc. For that, check out r/AskGameMasters. As always, wade into the waters of Reddit at your own risk.
Map-making
Fantastic Maps – Lots of really great tutorials and inspirational maps here.
CG Textures – A great archive of high-res textures, including lots and lots of old paper. Images are available for download with free registration.
Dyson’s Dodecahedron – One of the most popular styles of dungeon design, and with good reason. Dyson offers lots of great map-making tutorials.
